INTRODUCTION (OR RE-INTRODUCTION) TO YOGA

Date: Wed. Jan. 4, 11, 18, 25, 10:15 - 11:30 am. Pre-registration required.
Cost: Early bird price before Dec. 20 is $65 for the series (4 classes). After Dec. 20, the cost is $80.

Give the gift of yoga to someone you love or to yourself! Are you new to yoga, or maybe need a tune-up after being away from your practice for awhile? This class will introduce you to both the physical and mental aspects of yoga based on ancient yoga philosophy. You'll learn basic foundation poses along with how the power of breath helps connect the mind and body. Class size is limited, so each student may receive careful guidance.

YOGA AND ACUPRESSURE with Beth Greenfield and Jeanne Nelson

In this hour, Beth and Jeanne will guide you with self-acupressure points and restorative yoga postures, helping you experience the healing benefits of combining these two disciplines.  This class is appropriate for all levels.

YOGA FOR THE NECK AND SHOULDERS with Dana Davis

Learn how to align your neck and shoulders to relieve pain and get more comfortable. In this workshop you’ll learn stretches to help open the chest, exercises to tone the upper back muscles, how to move your neck safely, and ways to relieve tension in your neck and shoulders. You’ll learn healthy alignment so you can feel better and look better too!

Yoga designed for full-bodied women, offering an opportunity to begin
or to deepen and expand your yoga practice, and enhance body, mind,
body, develop balance, flexibility and strength, and breathing practices
to awaken presence, center and ground. The last hour of the workshop
will be Restorative Yoga, relaxation and meditation. We address individual
participant's needs and desires for finding ease in their practice. Beginners are welcome.

ENTERING THE FLOW: Deepening to Prana Flow Yoga
The Elemental Workshop Series (Earth, Air, Fire and Water)

This workshop series is an invitation to embody the flow of yoga through Prana Flow,an innovative, creative and full-spectrum approach to vinyasa-based yoga that has been cultivated by Shiva Rea and the Global Vinyasa Collective of Teachers. Prana, is our life-energy, taken in through the breath, and vinyasa is a sequence of postures linked together by the wave of our breath. Each workshop will be an opportunity to learn and experience this full-spectrum approach to yoga through chanting and music, movement meditation, vinyasas, conscious breathing and relaxation. Each workshop will also include an elemental theme: 1st Earth, 2nd Air, 3rd Fire, and the 4th Water. The earth practice will be soothing and grounding, the air practice will be heart opening and increase circulation, the fire practice will be dynamic and energizing, and the water practicewill be smooth and fluid. They will each offer an opportunity to rejuvenate and create inner balance.

  iRest ® Yoga Nidra is a highly effective meditation process for releasing stress and promoting well being.  Yoga Nidra translates as “yogic sleep” and iRest is a modern adaptation of this ancient yogic practice.  iRest ® Yoga Nidra is taught as a guided meditation and is easily learned.  Each stage of iRest ® Yoga Nidra reveals a meditative tool that can be used for deep relaxation and the restoration of the body and mind.  Research has shown that iRest Yoga Nidra is also helpful in supporting the healing of anxiety, depression, insomnia, trauma, chronic pain and P.T.S.D.
 
This workshop will provide both an introduction to the practice and an iRest Yoga Nidra guided meditation (which can be experienced either lying down or seated).

YOGA FOR COMPUTER USERS with Margie Cohea

In this workshop we will review healthy posture and movement, the principles of an ergonomic workstation, and practice stretches and modified yoga poses that can be done at your workstation. Come learn what you can do to decrease repetitive stress from using a computer. All yoga practice levels are welcome.
